New Voice of the Challengers

Radio-BroadcastThe Bi-Mart Eugene Challengers American Legion baseball organization is pleased to announce our new voice announcer Bill Crawford and our sixth season broadcasting games on the radio station KKNX AM (and soon to be streamed around the world at Radio84.com). Bill replaces Paul Yarbrough, who retired after announcing the Challengers for five seasons. Bill has been in broadcasting for close to 40 years as a radio personality in Eugene, Medford, Chico, San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland and various other cities, including Juneau, Alaska.
His sports background includes public address announcing, which he has done since 1973 for various high school, college and professional teams, and is the current Public Address Announcer at North Eugene High School. He has experience doing high school football, boys and girls basketball and baseball, plus he was recently the play-by-play voice of Northwest Christian University Women’s Basketball.

The Eugene Bi-Mart Challengers are proud to continue our relationship with KKNX 840 AM and now on FM at 105.1. KKNX will broadcast all 20 Area 4 American Legion games, plus a game with Corvallis on July 20th. KKNX will also carry all Bi-Mart Eugene Challengers post-season games the team will be playing in – Super Regionals, the State Tournament, which will be held at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, the Pacific Northwest Regionals in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina. Bill Crawford will be covering all the games this season on KKNX AM and FM.Bill was born in Medford on November 8, 1956. He is a 1974 graduate of Churchill High School in Eugene and a 1978 graduate of Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Bill has two daughters and two grandsons and just recently married his wife, Donna. Bill has been a volunteer with many non-profit organizations and most recently on the Coos and Lane County boards of SMART, Start Making a Reader Today. He is currently working as a radio personality at KKNX AM 840 and FM 105.1 and has previously been a personality on KKNU, KMGE and KODZ in Eugene. He has been in broadcasting professionally since 1977, when he started at KCMX in Ashland and KBOY in Medford.
