Despite Strong Fight, Eugene Overhead Door Challengers Can’t Top Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fifth inning, Eugene Overhead Door Challengers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 8-7 to Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers on Wednesday. The Challengers put up six runs in the failed comeback. Bryson EstrellaJeff SquiresKayden Sandow, and Dylan Martin all picked up RBIs in the rally.

The Challengers put up three runs in the sixth inning. Sandow and Martin all drove in runs in the frame. The Challengers were right in it until Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers doubled in the seventh inning.

Barry Sherrill earned the win for Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers. The righty surrendered three runs on one hit over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.

Jarrett Allen took the loss. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing four hits and three runs while walking one.

Jackson Koons started the game for Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers. Koons went four and a third innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out nine and walking one Jason Proudfit started the game for The Challengers. The right-hander lasted four innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out three

Squires led the Challengers with two hits in three at bats.

Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers totaled nine hits in the game. Tyler Bickford and Max Lavey each managed multiple hits for Hillsboro Post 6 Barbers.
